Welcome to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Application Form

It is important to have the following documents prior to starting the process.

  • PIT Transcripts (official or unofficial)
  • Outside College Transcripts (official or unofficial) *see below
  • References (2 professional reference letters with contact information)
  • Essay (one page explaining why you want to be a sonographer)
  • Shadowing documentation (if applicable)

*outside transcripts previously sent to PIT for admission to Health Science cannot be sent to students or uploaded to this portal. Candidates interested in applying to DMS should request a copy from their prior institution and upload it to the DMS application as directed. Please do not ask an admissions representative or an advisor to provide a copy, we are not authorized.

*Official High School transcripts required to be on file with Admissions.

Compliance with all American Data Bank immunizations and clearances are required as well.

The deadline to apply is June 26, 2026.

If you are currently enrolled in Spring courses, you may still apply. You will see an option in the drop down that reads –“I am currently enrolled in this course”, students should select this option so the committee is aware that the final grade is not available.

PIT does not require an application fee.

PIT does not require SAT/TEAS scores, however; a knowledge and retention assessment of prerequisite courses (Math, Physics, Anatomy, Medical Terminology, English) will be administered to qualifying candidates at no cost.

Please read all instructions carefully and follow directions.

This application must be completed in its entirety; it cannot be edited or modified once it is submitted.

Extenuating circumstances that may require a second submission can be requested by sending an email to the application committee at DMSProgram@pit.edu explaining the nature of the request.

It is important to note that submitting an application to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program does not guarantee an interview or a knowledge and retention assessment.

Steps to Navigate the Application Form

Step 1. Review Program Requirements and Enter Requested Information

Before starting the application, review the program prerequisites and admission requirements. This information can be found in the Student Application Packet located at the top of this page and also on the PIT website .

Step 2. Complete Application Sections and Upload Supporting Documents

Upload all required documents, such as transcripts, essays, references, shadowing form, etc. in the designated areas. Ensure files are legible and submitted in PDF formats.

Once your application is submitted, it cannot be edited.

Step 3. Review and Submit

Before submitting, carefully review your application for accuracy and completeness. Once submitted, you will not be able to make changes.
